Who are we?

We are all students attending the University of Central Florida and members of the registered student organization at UCF called "Students for the Exploration and Development of Space." This is the NASA Student Launch Competition. A competition set by NASA that has us with three main missions, to reach a target altitude, to scan the ground for hazards during descent, and to analyze forces on the rocket's subsystem during supersonic flight. Not only that, but NASA Student Launch team results will go towards NASA's ongoing Space Launch Systems research. We also promote STEM outreach to students K-12 through public outreach and STEM related projects. Here are our team members:

Anthony Laiuppa, Information Technology major, Team Mentor

Jeremy Young, Aerospace Engineering major, Team Leader, UCF SEDS president

Gillian Smith, Mechanical Engineering Major, Vehicle officer

Kristen Brightwell, Aerospace Engineering Major, Education Engagement Officer

Emily Sachs, Mechanical Engineering Major, Payload Officer

Erica Terry, Computer Science Major, Team Software Engineer

Despite coming from a variety of majors, the team shares one passion.... Space. As such we believe participating in things such as this Student Launch competition are the first steps in helping us chase our dream of joining the space industry. You can find all of our current work and documents here on this website under the "Reports and Presentations" tab.

The Impact:

Each contribution brings us closer to our goal of competing in Student Launch and additionally:

Helping the team chase our dreams by acquiring necessary experience to join the space industry.
By funding the team you are also aiding NASA SLS research that will be obtained by the results of this project!
Part of our teams mission criteria is K-12 STEM outreach, so you are helping educate the future of America as well!
Establishing continuity, all rocket parts from this campaign will be passed down to future SEDS projects so we can help future students compete and participate in high power rocketry competitions without needing a new campaign every year!
Other Ways You Can Help

We understand not everyone has the means to contribute financially to the campaign but there are other ways you can help us! Share this page with your friends and share our passion for space!
And that’s all there is to it.
